Audition dates: Auditions will take place on Tuesday, September 3 at 7:00-9:00 pm or by appointment. Video submissions will be accepted until Tuesday, September 3 at 11:59pm. Please choose whichever option you are most comfortable with.

Location of audition: Two Brothers Roundhouse Banquet Room: 205 N Broadway, Aurora, Illinois 60506.

Submissions: Please complete the audition form for consideration. You may either attend the in-person audition, or submit a video to auditions@cityoflightstheatre.org until Tuesday, September 3 at 11:59 pm. Please email us with any questions.

We encourage performers of all types of backgrounds to audition. We are looking to cast 12-20 performers.

Tuition: The cost of the program is $200, which includes individual and group vocal coachings, mentoring from adult cabaret artists, choral rehearsals, choreography and staging rehearsals, and two performances with live musical accompaniment at Two Brothers Roundhouse on Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30 6:00 pm. The cost of the Howl at the Moon t-shirt is $25 and each performer cast in the show will be required to purchase one.

As of now, City of Lights Theatre & Cabaret receives no public funding. We depend exclusively on ticket sales and tuition to provide this service.
Where does your $200 go?

  • Microphone and spotlight rental

  • Sound engineer for performances

  • Graphic design for promotional materials

  • Printing programs and flyers

  • Stipends for coaches and musicians

  • Promotional ads on social media

  • Stipends for staging director and choreographer

  • Scholarship fund for talented performers with financial need

Get $25 off your tuition if cast by referring five friends to audition if at least one of them auditions who is NEW to City of Lights Theatre. Please list their names in the audition form. $25 discount is applied when at least one friend (new to City of Lights) referred submits an audition.

Scholarship program: We provide scholarships to performers who are cast in the cabaret and are unable to pay the $200 tuition. We want to cast ALL talented performers, not just the performers who can pay the tuition at this time. Please select the scholarship option in the audition form if you are interested. Selecting this option will not affect casting.

Time commitment: The rehearsal period of the show is September 9 - October 28 with performances on October 29 and 30 at 6:00 pm (two shows total) at Two Brothers Roundhouse in Aurora, Illinois. Rehearsals will occur:

  • Sundays 1:00-4:00 pm

  • Tuesdays 5:30-8:30 pm

  • Thursdays 5:30-8:30 pm

Rehearsals will take place in Aurora, Illinois. You will likely not be called for the entire rehearsal block. Plan on approximately 15-20 rehearsals within those dates. Please let us know your conflicts during that period in the audition form. We will provide a master schedule within two weeks of casting. There will be additional rehearsal dates as we get closer to the show (on other days of the week).
